COVENTRY- Coventry High School’s FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) members were STARs (Students Taking Action For Recognition) at the spring leadership conference recently held in March. The event was lead by two Coventry High School seniors, Austin Croft and Andre Pelletier, as out-going State Officers. They helped present information and run the conference along with five other FCCLA officers from across the state. Coventry High School had several winners, Christopher Wochoski, a junior, received a Gold Medal in Garde Manger by plating a variety of fruits and vegetables. The Silver Medal winner was Morgan Clark, a freshman, in cupcake decorating with a scene from nature, by frosting and decorating twelve cupcakes. The Culinary Team won a Bronze Medal making a three-course meal of chicken, fettuccine, and a salad. The team included seniors Kevin Fortin, Austin Croft, and Andre Pelletier. This competition was held at the Lincoln Culinary Institute in Hartford. Zachary Tweed, a freshman from the International Foods Class helped evaluate the Food Innovations Event. Mrs. Sue Clark was in charge of coordinating all of the 12 events that students competed in from across the state.
