Drug take-back day

VERNON- On April 27, the Vernon Police Department, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration, (DEA),m will participate in the national drug take-back initiative. The take-back initiative was designed to allow the public an opportunity to turn in unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs. The drugs will then be safely and properly disposed of. There is no cost to the public and no questions will be asked. The drop-off point is the Vernon Public Works garage located at 375 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. People can turn in all medications. All pills will be accepted as well as liquid medications. However, needles will not be accepted. It is strongly recommended that people remove all labels with personal information on the packaging prior to disposal. The police will no be looking at or gathering any personal information.
