ENFIELD – The 2nd Annual Cinco K Mayo Charity 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, May 4. The event starts at 9 a.m. at 124 North Maple Road, Enrico Fermi High School; registration begins at 8 a.m. For the first time this year, a new scholarship for high school seniors from Enfield and Fermi High Schools going to a four-year college, will be awarded from a portion of the event proceeds. Recipients will need to exemplify the characteristics of the Rotary Four-Way Test. Monies raised will also support the Rotary Club of Enfield Charitable Fund which funds community projects including scholarships to juniors and seniors in college. The 5K route is a certified, flat course and the race is professionally chip timed. New this year, the Walk route follows the 5K route. All participants will receive a tee-shirt; prizes will be awarded for individual and team tee-shirt creativity. Winners in each category will receive cash prizes. Entertainment for this year’s event will be provided by DJ Hatch. Acapulco’s of Enfield will host a post-race fiesta.
