COLCHESTER- The Colchester Lions Club will hold their 19th annual fishing derby on Sunday, May 5 from 9 a.m. - Noon, rain or shine at their pond on Halls Hill Road. The derby is open to all Colchester residents ages 6 through 13. Parents are encouraged to join their children to coach them and enjoy the day with their child(ren) and the Lions. Adults will not be permitted to fish during derby hours. There is no charge to enter. Pre-registration will begin at 8 a.m. and all children must pre-register prior to the starting. Parents should plan to show proof of residence when registering their children. Children must provide their own live bait. Flies and lures are also permitted. A two trout limit will be imposed on the anglers so more children will have a chance to catch a fish. Prizes will be given in different categories for fish caught. (Prize winners must be present at the time of the awards.) The Lions will be providing light refreshments at no cost to registered participants. After the derby, the Lions’ pond will be opened to the public for fishing – again with the two trout limit per day.
