SUFFIELD – On Saturday, May 11, Connecticut Landmarks’ Phelps-Hatheway House & Garden will host the Suffield Garden Club’s 36th Annual May Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This annual community event held the day before Mother’s Day, is the Suffield Garden Club’s signature fundraiser of the year and offers gardeners the opportunity to buy annuals and hard-to-find perennials including flowering shrubs, trees, vegetables and geraniums. Vegetables and garden décor available for sale. Many of the flowers are grown by students in the Future Farmers of America program at the Regional Agriscience Program at Suffield High School. Other flowers are from the Phelps-Hatheway Garden and the gardens of members of the Suffield Garden Club. Baked goods, collectibles and handicrafts will also be available for sale. Participants can enter to win exciting items in a teacup raffle and take a tour of the Phelps-Hatheway House & Garden. Children's activities include stamping your own wallpaper pattern, and making a Mother's Day card or lavender sachet with staff from the Phelps-Hatheway House. Event held rain or shine. Admission is free, regular admission applies for house tour.
