Cadet Post seeks members

Colchester - posted May, 07 2013

COLCHESTER- State Police Troop K Cadet Post 028 is seeking new members interested in careers in criminal justice or law enforcement. The Cadet program is a leadership organization which emphasizes the development of responsibility and discipline. An informational open house will be held on  Tuesday May 21 for male or female candidates aged 14 to 20. Meetings are held every Tuesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Troop K. Some of what the Cadets do is serve the community by assisting troopers with traffic control and security at local events. In the past Cadets have received limited training in basic law enforcement skills, including crime scene processing, training with the National Guard stationed at Camp Niantic, CPR, first aid, firearms safety, and military drills. Cadets may also be responsible for coordinating special events outside of meetings such as fundraising, community service, and leadership events. Proceeds from these events may be used to purchase uniforms and equipment. Past Cadets have continued to pursue their interest in criminal justice and law enforcement by attending college (including military college), or enlisting in the National Guard or the United States Marine Corps. Those interested may contact either Advisor Michael McKiernan at or Advisor Nate Lochowski at
