Bike to Work day
East Hartford - posted May, 10 2013
EAST HARTFORD - Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc has announced the town of East Hartford and the Capital Region Council of Governments will be supporting Bike to Work Day on May 17, with a bike rider courtesy stop at the commuter park lot on Main Street, Route 5 Exit 30, in town from 7 to 9 a.m. The mayor is encouraging all bike riders that normally drive to work to participate in this fun day; the Bike Walk CT website has all the information and resources a bike commuter needs to know to enjoy the days events. This year, bike commuters are invited to register and pledge to bike to work. All registered cyclists will be eligible for raffle prizes. The Bike Walk CT webpage also has tips for bike commuting and will have information on Bike Buddies and meet ups. Bike Buddies are experienced bike commuters who are willing to help others with route planning, gear advice and other tips for bike commuting, and are willing to ride to work with new bike commuters. Bike Walk CT is promoting participation in the National Bike Challenge, nationalbikechallenge.org, for those that appreciate a little competition. For more information please call the parks and recreation department at 860-291-7160; ask for Director Ted Fravel.
