Firemen's 5K road race
Suffield - posted May, 10 2013
SUFFIELD - On Sunday, June 2 at 9 a.m. sharp, the Suffield Fire Department Auxiliary will be hosting the annual Suffield Fire Department 5K Road Race at Spaulding School, Mountain Road, West Suffield. This USAF&T certified race features a competitive run/walk event with cash awards, trophies and prizes. This race is dedicated to the memory of former firefighter, Paul R. Simison, who founded this fundraiser for the department 15 years ago; it is an event he held dear to his heart. In the spirit of Simison's desire to help improve the health of the community, a special award will be presented to and individual who best represents the spirit of the event. Last year the race hosted 220 participants ranging in age from 8 to 85. All participants are welcome to enjoy a pleasurable run or walk through a very scenic and relaxing landscape of historic homes and working farms. The proceeds from this event will help us to continue to support our local firefighters, who unselfishly have committed their time and dedication to help the citizens of this great community. Registration forms are available at the center firehouse and all branches of the First National Bank of Suffield, the main sponsor. For questions or inquiries, call the center firehouse at 860-668-3888 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
