Reconstruction of Kelly Road
South Windsor - posted May, 10 2013
SOUTH WINDSOR- Kelly Road reconstruction continues with Phase 3 of this project from Oak St. to the Vernon town line. The work in this phase involves lowering the hill and shifting the road to the south to provide better sightline for motorists. The new eastbound lane will be shifted down and to the south while temporarily maintaining westbound traffic on the old pavement. Work will then proceed to move the westbound land onto a new stone base. Concrete barriers will be placed between the two lanes for a short distance to secure the work area. During the day, traffic will be alternating one way through the construction area. During nights and weekends, westbound traffic will be directed to the paved lane and eastbound traffic will be on the processed stone lane. Once both lanes are at the same level, on a processed stone base, the concrete barriers will be removed. This construction sequence should take about two weeks to complete. This section of Kelly Road is scheduled to be paved in mid-June. There will extended periods when this section of Kelly Road is gravel and has no pavement. Motorists are advised to drive slowly and use caution during construction activities. Access will be maintained to all properties along the road during construction.
