WOODSTOCK - The Annual Memorial Day 10K Race will be held on Monday, May 27. This scenic race begins from Woodstock Academy at 9 a.m. Registration fee is $25. Registration will be open in the Academy Field House gym the morning of the race until 8:45 a.m. Tee-shirts will be given out on race day to runners coming in to register, on a first come, first serve basis. For for the first time in its 33 year history, Woodstock Recreation Commission will offer cash prizes to winners of the race. A total of $600 in prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place overall winning runners, both male and female. There will also be prizes for the first male and female Woodstock resident finishers. Bet Zimmerman and Patrick Smith donated the funds in loving memory of their spouses. It is an honor to have such caring individuals in our community. Both Claudia Vincenti-Smith and Doug Zimmerman were Woodstock residents. Vincenti-Smith was a Crabtree & Evelyn employee who lost her battle with cancer in 2008. Zimmerman was an avid runner who competed in the race every year. This is a rain or shine event.
