THOMPSON - Head to Thompson on Saturday June 1, for the Connecticut Trails Day! Connecticut Trails Day has been coordinated by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association since 1993. Trails Day is a day of helping Connecticut residents to take in and enjoy the wonderful outdoor opportunities available in this state. This year more than 130 events are being held around the state. Thompson is hosting a Trail Day Hike, sponsored by Thompson Trails Committee and Thompson Recreation. It will include an easy 3.2 mile walk is on flat, handicap-accessible surface wandering through a historic mill village, along the 1872 North Grosvenordale Mill and past the North Grosvenordale Pond. This event is free and open to the public. Children accompanied by adults are welcome. Leashed dogs are also welcome. The walk will run from 9 - 11 a.m. rain or shine. Meet a the gazebo in Riverside Park in North Grosvenordale. For other events in the state, pick up brochure at Thompson Town Hall or call the Connecticut Forest & Park Association at 860-346-2372.
