Sprague - posted May, 15 2013

A budget referendum will be held at the Baltic Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday, May 21, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please take the time to cast a "no" vote to this budget. Positions which are being eliminated or hours reduced are: facilities manager's position is being transferred to the Board of Education with a sizable pay raise; Public Works Department crew hours for one full-time to part-time from 40 to 25; Senior Center coordinator/municipal agent for the elderly slashed from 32 to 20 - state Statute mandates that municipal sgent work 10 hours per week; transfer station attendant position eliminated and filled by your First Selectman's/state Senator's son-in-law at union wage; assessor's hours cut; janitor position for the Grist Mill eliminated, Board of Education will handle this duty; and a new ambulance is not part of the bond package. The Town of Sprague belongs to the taxpayers. Please vote "no" to the budget. Dorothy Tetreault Versailles, CT
