SOMERS - The Connecticut River Valley Artists Sixth Art Exhibition and Sale, opens June 2 and continues through June 16 in Somers. This show features the work of eleven award-winning artists from Connecticut and Massachusetts. Presented by the Somers Cultural Commission, the show will be held at the Piedmont Hall, 604 Main Street, Route 190, Somers. The public is invited opening reception on June 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. Meet the artists and view or purchase original artwork and fine art prints. Live music and refreshments provided. Exhibit hours are Wednesday, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 1 to 5 p.m. and Thursdays, 1 to 8 p.m. For more information, contact Doug Gillette at 860-763-4565. This year’s exhibit will feature two artist at work on Thursdays, June 6 and 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited free of charge to watch artists demonstrate, converse about their methods, techniques and share insights into their work and perspectives. Sandra Wakeen, from Somers, will be the artist at work on June 6; Doug Gillette from Enfield, will be the artist at work on June 13. Exhibiting artists also include: acrylic artist Neil Connell; pastel artist Barbara Groff; landscape painter William Hoey; watercolorist Art Scholz; color pencil artist Alexandra Walters from Feeding Hill, MA works with colored pencil, watercolor, and pastel; graphite artist Steve Wilda; landscape artist Lynn Wrona; photographer Charlie Vendetti; and watercolorist Karen Young.
