Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor those who have served our country, defended our freedom, and sacrificed for our way of life. Our nation is fortunate to have so many who have bravely served in the military and answered the call when needed. On Memorial Day, we solemnly remember those who have fallen with sadness and pride. There are no words to comfort a grieving spouse or parent other than the steadfast gratitude of an indebted nation. We exist because of their sacrifice and we will always remember that our country was shaped by their unwavering strength of character and valor. Colchester will be honoring our fallen soldiers this coming Sunday, May 26, at 12:30 p.m. I hope you and your family can come to the Town Green to help celebrate our annual Memorial Day Parade and honor those that gave, as President Lincoln described, “the last full measure of devotion.” Gregg Schuster First Selectman Town of Colchester
