ENFIELD - Please join the Scantic River Watershed Association on June1 to celebrate the annual Connecticut Trails Day. This will be the 6th Annual Powder Hollow CT Trails Day Hike. Take a hike along the beautiful cascading rapids and view the historic remains of Colonel Augustus Hazard’s mid-1800’s gunpowder mill. The hike will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Scantic River Rapids Recreation Area touring the historic ruins of the Hazard Powder Company, as well as providing a chance to enjoy the scenic and natural beauty along the banks of the Scantic River. The hike will also afford an opportunity to experience the new Greenway trail system being developed by the Scantic River Watershed Association. The hike is ideally suited for families and leashed pets. Participants should park at the Powder Hollow Barn, 32 South Maple St., Enfield. The hike distance is approximately two to three miles with mild difficulty. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring bottled water. We would appreciate all hikers bringing a non-perishable item to benefit the Enfield Food Shelf. Heavy rain will force a cancellation.
