Dog day at the market

ELLINGTON - Happiness is a Warm Puppy Dog Day will be held at Ellington Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. Activities include Connecticut State Police K9 unit presenting a police dog demonstration at 10 a.m.; Fatithful Friends Canine Academy will be on hand for advice on dog training issues. Doreen's Country Pet Grooming will be on hand to clean dogs ears and clip their nails. Well-behaved dog on a leash are welcome at the most popular market day of the season where they can sample gluten-free doggie treats. Ellington Center Animal Clinic will offer rabies shots for $20; and microchip insertion $25 for cash donations to benefit Ellington Animal Control, which provides food and care for animals at the Ellington Dog Pound will be available. Cats in carriers are welcome, too. For the Love of Labs and Sadie Mae Foundation dog rescue groups will be on hand to provide information about their services, and they might even bring some adorable dogs eligible for adoption.
