Selected to Boys' State

WINDSOR LOCKS - Six students have been selected by the local American Legion Post and the Windsor Locks High School to attend the American Legion Boys State Program. The conference will be held at Eastern Connecticut University at the end of June. The following boys were selected and their financial sponsors are as follows: Colin Eversdyke, sponsored by Post 0036, The American Legion; Brett Sherman, sponsored by Post No. 6123, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Steven Lucia, sponsored by the W.L. Lions Club; Nathan Seaha, sponsored by Council No. 26, Knights of Columbus; Joshua Lambert, sponsored by W. L. Republican Town Committee; and Rafal Besubik sponsored by the Democratic Town Committee. American Legion Boys State is an educational program open to selected junior students in high school. It is, in operation, a government unit in which each boy participates in the practical functioning of local and state government. Every phase of the program includes instruction of the duties and responsibilities of citizens and public officials. The six boys were selected on the basis of their scholastic ability and interest by the high school administration. The local American Legion sponsors the Boy's State program for Windsor Locks and is financially aided by civic organizations and businesses of the community whose continued support makes this program available to local students.
