Prescription card available
Franklin - posted Jun, 07 2013
FRANKLIN- The Town of Franklin, in association with the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, is now providing a prescription discount card for uninsured or underinsured residents. The Prescription Drug Discount Card helps residents save money on prescription medications any time a prescription is not covered by insurance. Anyone can participate in the program regardless of age, income, or current insurance coverage, and any prescription, even for pets, is eligible for the discount. Additionally, the card can be used on other medical services, like vision care and hearing aids. Participating pharmacies include Big Y, CVS, Shop-and-Stop, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, and independent pharmacists. The program does not cost the town or taxpayers any money, but the savings to cardholders average 45 percent. In the coming weeks, every resident in Franklin will receive a prescription discount card in the mail, which may then be used at any participating pharmacy. There are no enrollment forms, membership fees, restrictions or limits on use, and entire families will be covered. This program will help them save money on any medicines not covered by their insurance.
