EAST GRANBY - The East Granby Economic Development Commission (EDC) will be hosting a Revolutionary War Encampment at East Granby Farms on Oct. 5 and 6. This will be a family oriented, community wide event featuring Old Lebanon Towne Militia, a living history group that traces its roots back to the Battle of Boston in 1775, the Marquis of Granby Ancient Fyfe & Drum Corps. and other re-enactment groups. Old Lebanon Towne Militia focuses on camp life, which included women and children. They not only present drilling and artillery demonstrations but cook and demonstrate artisan skills. They may be accompanied by groups portraying British soldiers, Native Americans or other American militia. Plans for compatible activities of music, food, entertainment, walking tours, are still being made. The East Granby Historical Society, East Granby Land Trust and several other local organizations will be supporting and participating in this event, which will be offered to the public free of charge.
