NORWICH –The Backus Arthritis Center and Rheumatology Department will host a community education event about gout, a painful condition that impacts millions of people. Dr. Sandeep Varma, Medical Director of the Arthritis Center, will present “Understanding Gout: My Toe Really Hurts” on June 26, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., in the Backus Outpatient Care Center conference room at 111 Salem Turnpike, Norwich. The event is free but registration is required by calling 860-425-8710. Refreshments will be provided. Dr. Varma will educate participants about the signs and symptoms of gout, a painful arthritic condition that many times can be felt in the big toe, and how this medical condition can be treated.
