Fun at the library

SOUTH WINDSOR - The following programs will be held at South Windsor Public Library. Having Fun with Dinosaurs and Fossils, presented by Paulette Morin, will be held on Thursday July 16, at 10:30 a.m. Registration is necessary and began on July 1 for this exciting hands-on program. There will be storytelling and fossil specimens to inspire young scientists. For ages 5 and up. Pirates and Buried Treasure: on July 23, from 2 to 4 p.m., volunteers will be stationed around the room to help younger children make a pirate hat, an eye patch, learn how to speak like a pirate and find some buried treasure. All ages are welcome; no registration is necessary. Spiders, Scorpions and Centipedes will be presented by Win Ford on Tuesday, August 6 at 2 p.m. Ford will talk about these underground inhabitants and their lives, using some live specimens for examples. Registration is necessary for this program and begins on July 22. For ages 5 and up. The Turtle Show will be presented by Steve Woyce, author of the book, "The Amazing World of Turtles," on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. Children will have an opportunity to examine live turtles and empty turtle shells. For ages 5 and up; registration is necessary and begins on July 15. A Very Merry UnBirthday Party will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m. as the summer reading club finale! Bring a picnic lunch; drinks and treats will be provided. It is a birthday party with an Alice in Wonderland twist. For information on these or other events held at the library, call 860-644-5404.
