Budget referendum

WINDSOR - On Tuesday, July 16, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., the Referendum will be held on the 2013/2014 Town of Windsor Annual Budget. Absentee Ballots are available in the Windsor Town Clerk's office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. State law prohibits the Town Clerk from mailing absentee ballots for referendums with less than three weeks notice; as a result, voters must apply in person at the Town Clerk’s office. If you are housebound, you may designate someone to hand carry your ballot. For additional information, please call 860-285-1902. If you are not a registered voter, but do own property assessed at $1,000 or more on the last completed Grand List, you may vote on the annual budget at Town Hall. The ballot question: SHALL THE ANNUAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2014 IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,313,850 AS RECOMMENDED BY THE WINDSOR TOWN COUNCIL BE ADOPTED? The vote is by optical scan tabulators: YES or NO. The following are districts and location of polling places: District 1 - L. P. Wilson Community Center, 599 Matianuck Ave.; District 2 - J. F. Kennedy School, 530 Park Ave.; District 3 - 330 Windsor Ave. Building, 330 Windsor Ave.; District 4 - Town Hall, 275 Broad St.; District 5 - Oliver Ellsworth School, 730 Kennedy Road; District 6 - Poquonock School, 1760 Poquonock Ave.; and District 7 - Rainbow Fire House, 750 Rainbow Road.
