4-H Fair

SOMERS – The 77th annual Hartford County 4-H fair will take place on Friday, Aug. 16, through Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Four Town Fairgrounds located on Egypt Road in Somers. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for seniors and children 7-12; free for children 6 and under. Parking is free. All proceeds go directly to the Hartford County 4-H Fair Association. Throughout the weekend, visitors are entertained with 4-H livestock exhibits and shows, non-animal exhibits and demonstrations, 4-H dog and equine shows, doodlebug and horse draws, live bands, children’s entertainment, craft show, outdoor movie, amusements, food and more. There are new additions to the fair this year, including the showing of the movie "Barnyard" on Saturday night at dark, rain or shine. Families are welcome to bring blankets and chairs; no outside food or beverage. In addition, there will be various afternoon activities on Saturday including a 4-H Olympics which is open to the public. Animal talks which are scheduled at various times during the weekend. The Scottish Highland Dancers will be performing on Saturday. The Celebrity Goat Obstacle Course will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, at 3:30 p.m., and will feature local celebrities. Each celebrity will learn from 4-H members how to maneuver a goat and compete for first place. We are asking any news, radio, mascot personalities to join for this fun event. This year’s fair entertainment features the Paul Tyler band on Friday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m., and AJ Jansen on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. A craft show will be held all day Saturday. A final addition to this year’s fair is the Austin Harlow Memorial 5 K Road Race on Sunday. The race will begin and end at the fairgrounds and all proceeds benefit Hartford County 4-H Fair.
