Art at the library

SALEM- The Salem Free Public Library invites local artists to display their artwork at the Salem Library for an Art Reception on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. The artwork will be on display until the end of August 2013. The Library cannot accommodate many large works of art, but can display smaller works close to 11” x 8” or 11” x 14” size. Most of these will be displayed on top of bookcases. The artwork should be framed. If the artist would like to sell the work, the price should be listed on the back of the artwork. The Library will accept artworks beginning on Thursday, Aug. 1 until Thursday, Aug. 8. No artwork will be accepted after that date. The Salem Library is located at 264 Hartford Road (Route 85). Phone number: 860-859-1130. The Reception is meant to showcase local talents. It will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The winners of the Photography Contest which was held July of this year will be announced and photos from the contest will also be displayed along with artwork from local artists. The chief judge of the Photography Contest is Roger Riley, from Riley Photographics in New London, Ct. He also taught a digital photography class in the spring at the Salem Library. Refreshments will be served. The Art & Poetry Reception is funded by The Friends of Salem Library.
