Yard waste collection changes

Enfield - posted Jul, 30 2013

ENFIELD - Beginning in the spring of 2014, Friday yard waste pick-up of grass, leaves and brush will only be collected in brown yard waste tipper barrels; bags will not be picked up. This change does not affect the current town of Enfield fall leaf program. The purpose of the change is to improve collection efficiencies and reduce work related injuries, improving safety and saving taxpayer dollars. To help residents transition to the new system, the town of Enfield is offering residents 96-gallon, brown yard waste tipper barrels at a reduced rate of $25. Even though the program change won’t be implemented until next spring, residents are encouraged to purchase additional brown yard waste tipper barrels now for use on Friday yard waste collections. Brown yard waste tipper barrels can be ordered in person at the town of Enfield Public Works Department, 40 Moody Road, or sending in the tipper barrel order form which is available online at www.enfield-ct.gov/dpw. Brown tipper barrels can be picked up at the public works department or residents can request delivery. Friday yard waste collection is for grass, leaves and brush only: no trash or bulky waste. Residents with questions can call 860-763-7560 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
