MANCHESTER - "The Book Thief," by Markus Zusak, is the August selection of the Manchester Public Library's Book Discussion for Adults. Death narrates the story of a young German girl during World War II who collects stolen books, as well as an engaging group of friends. The discussion will take place on Monday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m., and will be held in the Howroyd Room at the Mary Cheney Library, 586 Main St., Manchester. Copies of the book are available in the library's reference department. The free program is open to the public; registration is not required. Light refreshments will be served.
