Annual winetasting

ASHFORD- The Friends of the Babcock Library are holding their annual wine tasting fundraiser, Gifts from the Vine, on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 3 to 5 p.m., at ECSU’s Church Farm Center for Arts and Sciences, 396 Warrenville Road (Route 89), Ashford. Raindate is set for Sunday, Sept. 15. Sample a selection of local wines, spirits and delicious hors d’oeuvers. The event will feature live entertainment provided by Lorraine and Bill Liswell. In addition, there will be a silent auction and bauble sale. There will also be a book signing by Kevin Cullen author of “Whitey Bulger: America’s Most Wanted Gangster and the Manhunt That Brought Him to Justice.” Cullen, a journalist at The Boston Globe, has served at the paper’s overseas bureaus in Dublin and London and on the paper’s investigative team. Tickets for the event are $25 per person and will be available at Babcock Library, 25 Pompey Hollow Road, Ashford, in August. Call 860-487-4420 for further information.
