GLASTONBURY - Books, Bites and Bordeaux, an afternoon of fine food and wine, with Glastonbury cookbook author Jackie Parente will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m., at Riverview Farm, 489 Tryon Street, South Glastonbury. Parente, Glastonbury food guru and author of cookbook, "Can It!," will be the guest speaker at a benefit for Welles-Turner Memorial Library. The event will be an afternoon of fine food, wine, music and lively conversation, sponsored by the Welles-Turner Memorial Library Second Century Fund. A wide selection of hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be provided by local caterers Ginger and Pickles and will include seafood donated by the Anagnos family, owners of the City Fish Market in Wethersfield. Music at the event will be supplied by the Sam Parker Jazz Trio. In her book talk, Parente will discuss how her passions of local food and writing converged, and will give a short cooking demonstration to tempt us to appreciate our seasonal, local produce. Copies of her book will be available for sale and signing. Admission is $100 per person, of which $75 is tax deductible; seating will be limited. To make a reservation, please contact Barbara Morrissey on 860-581-8551 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
