EAST GRANBY - The Jets are in need of a few good players. The Jets Youth Football and Cheerleading organization of East Granby, Suffield and Windsor Locks is in need of youth participants and athletes of any skill level. If you have a son or daughter that could benefit from more outdoor activity, away from the TV, computer or X-Box games, the JETS have a program for you. If they have played soccer, baseball or lacrosse in the past, they should give football or cheerleading a try. The Jets have a progressive program to teach your child cheer or football skills and get the exercise their bodies and minds require. The orginazation is also committed to teaching life lessons that are relevant well after their JETS competitive days are over: like confidence, hard work, respect, commitment and teamwork. The kids also have fun in the process. Eligible children need to be at lease age 6 and no older than 13 by by July 1, 2013. Cheerleaders can be 14 years old, but not turn 15 before December 31, 2013 for their age eligibility. For safety reasons, football players are also adjusted to team by maximum weight allowed, regardless of age. Practice has already started at the Suffield Middle School track field. They meet weekdays from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and allow parents to register and have your child get a feel for football and cheerleading. They provide full refunds of registration fees up until the first game in Sept. For more information, please visit www.suffieldjets.com or contact any Jets board member or coach with questions. Their information can be found on the Jets board or team contacts tabs on the left side of the homepage.
