New drop-off hours at recycling center

ELLINGTON - The town of Ellington Department of Public Works has announced that there will be new hours of operation for the drop-off recycling center located at the Public Works Complex at 21 Main St. Residents may drop off accepted material, electronics, waste oil, propane tanks, antifreeze and fluorescent bulbs during the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting Aug. 30. the drop-off center will also be open the first and third Saturday's of each month, April through early Nov., from 9 a.m. to noon. the drop-off center will be closed on holidays. Proof of residence will be required. The center will also be open on the second and third Saturdays of January to allow residents to dispose of any material generated over the holidays. Residents are reminded that any household hazardous waste needs to be brout to the household hazardous waste collection center located in Willington at 57 Hancock Road. This site is open the first and third Saturdays of each month, mid-April through early Nov., and closed on the July 4 and Labor Day weekends. For more information, please call 860-684-3163. Surveillance cameras are in place to record any drop-off of material outside the hours of operation; those caught doing so will be processed for littering under the Town Ordinance 149 Section 149-20.
