Benefit dinners

WILLIMANTIC-  The Local Table Project will be a one of a kind, farm-to-table meal held in the Victorian Room at the Elk’s in Willimantic. The first of several dinners will take place on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. Proceeds from the meal will benefit Windham Area Interfaith Ministry’s Community Garden and the Covenant Soup Kitchen. Attendees will delight in a truly local menu. Four courses will be served each consisting of locally sourced ingredients. The two chosen recipients actively work to help alleviate hunger in the Willimantic/Windham area. WAIM’s Community Garden allows people to work in the garden and bring home produce. The Covenant Soup Kitchen provides home cooked meals and a food pantry. In the last year the Soup Kitchen has served 14,400 breakfasts and 30,356 lunches. Their food pantry has provided 78,318 meals. The Local Table Project would not be possible without the Willimantic Elks and the Willimantic Food Co-op. Both have fully embraced the project and in doing so have made sure that if you’re attending the meal, you’ll be attending at one of the greatest venues in the Willimantic area while enjoying locally sourced ingredients. The Co-op is an invaluable partner for this project, connecting us with area farmers and producers, making this a truly local experience. There are several sponsorship levels and any donations are greatly appreciated. Information about ticket sales, menus, sponsorships and ways to donate are available on our website;
