Backpack for Kids Day

Enfield - posted Aug, 22 2013

ENFIELD - Backpack for Kids Day will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon, at St. Patrick Church Parish Hall, 64 Pearl St., Enfield. Over 500 backpacks, donated by individuals, organizations, and businesses from Enfield and surrounding communities have been collected during the Backpack & Supplies August Drive. The purpose of the event is to assist high need, low-income children in Enfield by making sure they have a great start to the new school year. No registration is necessary. If a family is financially struggling to afford basic supplies for their child’s first day of school, they are welcome to come and receive a backpack, Educational Resources for Children (ERfC) staff will be available to answer questions about before-and after-school activities. ERfC operates Before & After School Centers in Enfield for children in grades kindergarten through 8. Enrollment is provided on a sliding fee schedule and staff will assist with registration, financial information, and completing Care4Kids applications. For more information about the Backpack for Kids Day, visit or call 860-253-9935. To apply to be a volunteer for the event contact LeBlanc at or call 860-745-3714. ERfC, a community-based non-profit organization, has been providing academic, enrichment, and recreational OST programs for the Enfield community since 1994.
