VERNON- The Vernon Historical Society presents "Yesterday's Children," an exhibit featuring toys and clothing from the museum's collection that were loved and worn by children from Rockville and Vernon. From hand-carved figures from the mid-19th century to metal sand toys from the mid-20th century, the toys reveal how children amused themselves in years past. The exhibit, assembled by museum director Dr. S. Ardis Abbott and former educator Maureen Bourn, is located in the museum level of the Society's builiding at 734 Hartford Turnpike. The museum is open Thursdays from 2-4 p.m. and on the second Sunday of the month from 2-4 p.m. The exhibit will remain in place through the summer and into the early fall. For an appointment for a special viewing, call the museum at 860-875-4326.
