Women's Club meeting

SOMERS - The Somers Women's Club will hold its first meeting of the approaching year on Thursday, Sept. 5, in the Blake Community Room of the Somers Public Library. The meeting will begin at 11:45 a.m. with a finger-food luncheon followed by a discussion of club business. The remainder of the meeting be for socializing and will also feature a Fun Fashion Show with several members modeling their own special ensembles. The club is welcoming interested women to attend and consider joining. The Somers Women's Club is beginning its 92nd year; founded to serve the community, it currently works to provide scholarships and assist with various town needs. In addition to its service commitment, members enjoy a variety of activities. A formal meeting is held on the first Thursday of each month with a finger-food luncheon and a speaker. The women can enjoy a bridge marathon, a book discussion group, a hiking group, and arts and craft workshops. Through its alliance with the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Connecticut, members of the Somers organization may choose to be included in the promotion of state and national concerns and charities.
