GLASTONBURY - The Cub Scouts is a great experience designed for students entering grades one through five. Overall, it’s a great social learning opportunity that reinforces core values such as family values, citizenship, cooperation, responsibility, respect and honesty. Scouts learn key skills such as how to tie a knot, and participate in activities such as camping, fishing, hiking and building/ racing their own car at the popular pinewood derby race. Cub Scouts runs from Sept. through May. Students entering grades one through five who are interested in joining the Cub Scouts should visit their local school with a parent or guardian on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. to learn more about Cub Scouting. Glastonbury schools with Cub Scout Packs include Buttonball Lane, Nayaug, Hopewell, Naubuc and Hebron. Eastbury and Magnet School students interested in joining the Cub Scouts should go to the nearest school with a Pack. Visit for local Pack contact information.
