An evening of trains

HEBRON- Robert LaMay will present “An Evening of Trains” at the Sept. 19 Hebron Historical Society meeting. Bob LaMay’s photographs and stories, drawn from a lifetime of interest in railroading, are sure to captivate people of all ages. Bob’s train curiosity was piqued with listening for their sounds as a small child; and today, as a retiree, his railroad passion remains as strong as ever. Never satisfied with waiting at the station for the arrival of the trains, Bob goes to meet and photograph them in their natural settings. Be it tracks, spikes, a variety of cars, locomotives, trestles, whatever; Bob loves all things related to railroading! With a friend, the late Joseph R. Snopek, LaMay wrote "Diesels to Park Avenue: The FL-9 Story," which chronicles a fleet of New Haven Railroad locomotives which traversed Southern New England, traditionally hauling freight but eventually passengers. Autographed copies of the book will be available for $25 at the meeting. The program will begin at 7:30, at Old Town Hall, on Sept. 19. It will immediately follow the brief HHS annual meeting which is called for 7 p.m.
