VERNON - The Vernon Garden Club is looking forward to a new year with fun, educational programs and a desire to beautify the town of Vernon. Meetings are held the third Monday of the month at the Rockville United Methodist Church, Grove Street, Vernon. Programs begin at 7 p.m. Vernon Garden Club members care for two lovely gardens in town: one at Tri City Plaza and one at Lafayette Square. The club runs a program for third graders at Lake Street School; gives a scholarship to a Vernon resident pursuing a degree in horticulture or a related subject; and also donate to many organizations in the town such as Rails to Trails, Rockville Library, The Vernon Arts Center and the Rockville Downtown Association. All programs are open to visitors and we would welcome anyone wishing to become a member. The first meeting of the year will be Sept. 16. It will be a fun, fundraiser, Bake, Make or Grow. All items are donated by Vernon Garden Club members.
