Beginning Monday, Sept. 9, pistol permit applications for residents of Tolland will be temporarily accepted at the Tolland Fire Department Training Cener located at 191 Merrow Road. Applications may be brought to this location Mondays through Thursdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (except holidays). Only completed, notarized DPS-799-C appication forms will be accepted. Please note: Sept. 19, the office will be closed. As the instructions indicate, your completed, notarized application form must be accompanied by two separate checks. No cash or credit cards will be accepted: A check payable to Treasurer, State of Connecticut, in the amount of $50; plus a check payable to Treasurer, State of Connecticut, in the amount of $16.50. Applicants must also provide: a copy of their Firearms Safety & Use course certificate; a copy of proof they are legally and lawfully in the United States. (e.g. copy of birth certificate, U.S. passport or documentation issued by I.C.E.); a completed and signed fingerprint card. Fingerprinting for residents of Tolland may be completed at the Tolland resident trooper’s office (as available), at the Tolland State Police Barracks Troop C located at 1320 Tolland Stage Road any day at either 7:15 a.m. OR 3:15 p.m., or at DESPP Headquarters located at 1111 Country Club Road in Middletown during normal business hours. Please be certain that you have collected all the documentation necessary, as incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any routine calls to the Tolland Resident Trooper’s Office should be made by dialing 860-875-8911 or to Troop-C directly at 860-896-3200. In the event of a true emergency, please dial 911. Questions concerning Town of Tolland rubbish removal should continue to temporarily be directed to the Tolland Town Hall, Director of Administrative Services by calling 860-871-3600. Again this is a temporary action; we plan to resume permitting activity at our regular location as soon as possible.
