Enfield - posted Sep, 09 2013
ENFIELD – Enfield residents are urged to clean out their closets and bring them to the town of Enfield Public Works Department on the third Saturday of every month. Clothing and shoes will be collected at the town’s Public Works Department, 40 Moody Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items collected will be donated to Allied’s Attic Thrift Store, 294 George Washington Road, Enfield. The store is operated by Allied Rehabilitation Centers, Inc., which provides services to more than 160 adults with intellectual disabilities, brain injuries and other challenges. Some of the agency’s clients participate in employment training programs and are paid employees of Allied’s Attic. Allied’s Attic features clothing for men, women and children, as well as shoes, handbags, jewelry, housewares, gifts, furniture, books, DVDs and more. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Thursdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (beginning Sept. 5); and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Donations cannot be accepted at the store but can be dropped off anytime Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the Donation Center also located at 294 George Washington Road. For more information about Allied’s Attic, visit www.alliedsattic.com. The clothing drop-off is in addition to waste oil and batteries already being collected every third Saturday of the month at the Public Works Complex for recycling. There are no fees for this service. This is just another part of increased recycling awareness to recognize the positive impact of reducing, reusing, recycling, composting and closing the recycling loop in our communities, schools and businesses.
