VERNON - Vernon Community Arts Center is offering two new music classes for home-schoolers. Classes will be held at Vernon Community Arts Center, 709 Hartford Tnpk., Vernon. For more information, please call the Arts Center at 860-871–8222. Music for Home-Schoolers, ages 5 through 9, and Music for Home-Schoolers, ages 10 to 17, students will have fun experimenting with keyboard, guitar and rhythm instruments with a focus on singing. Basic music theory and music history will be incorporated into each lesson. The children’s creativity will be tapped as the class collaborates on writing an original song. At the end of the session, there will be a performance for families and friends to enjoy. The classes will be taught by Rosemary Toth. Toth has an associate’s degree in music and has played and composed music since she was a young girl.  She has taught piano, guitar and voice for the past 13, and has played and performed with several local bands and duos, writing and recording a variety of folk, rock, classical and contemporary songs. Her love of music and ability to inspire and encourage young people will be apparent to all who take part in what promises to be a most exciting and enjoyable class.  Dates for the class are Tuesdays, Oct. 1 through Nov. 19 (eight classes). For 5 to 9-year old students, class time is 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.; for 10 to 17-year-olds, 11 a.m. to noon. Depending on enrollment, class ages may be adjusted.  Cost is $125 plus $10 for concert costs. Please make check payable to Vernon Community Arts Center.
