Practice reading with a therapy dog

ELLINGTON - On Saturdays, Sept. 14, 28, Oct. 12 and 26, children ages 5 to 12-years-old will have an opportunity to practice their reading skills by reading to trained therapy dogs. Allen’s Angels therapy dogs will be at the Hall Memorial Library in Ellington, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., on each of these Saturdays. Children will be asked to choose a favorite story or perhaps a chapter of a book they are already reading, to bring and share with an eager listener, who just happens to have four legs and a wagging tail. Registration is recommended and is ongoing. You may register either by telephone or in person. Each participant will choose 15 minutes of reading time. Parents are asked to wait in the children’s area of the library during the program. This and all library programs are free and open to the public. For more information or to register, call 860-870-3160.
