SALEM- The Salem Library offers the following programs in October. Call 860-859-1130 for information registration if required. Saturday, Oct. 5, 10:30 a.m. Wizard of Oz Fairy House Workshop with Sharon Geer at the Salem Library. The program is geared to children aged 3-10 who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The program takes place outside. A rain-date will be scheduled. The fairy houses are constructed with natural materials such as twigs, leaves, pinecones, bird nests, milkweed pods, bark, etc. collected by you. Fairy costumes are optional. Enrollment is limited. Free! Saturday, Oct. 5, 1-2:30 p.m. Henna Painting for all ages by Vidya Govardhanan. Sign up for a time for Vidya to paint a design on you. Free, but limited enrollment. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 7:15 p.m. Tuesday Night Book Group discusses Iron Lake by William Kent Krueger. Saturday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m.-Noon. Elderberry: 2013 Herb of the Year! with Bonnie Yackovetsky. Come and learn some of the history of the plant and how to use it today to help strengthen your immune system. We will be making a syrup and tea, and provide recipes so you can use your new knowledge at home. Materials Charge. Please register. Thursday, Oct. 31, 10 a.m. Moms Book Club discusses Wicked by Gregory Maguire– Bring the Kids! Thursday, Oct. 31, 1 p.m. Books in the Afternoon Book Group discusses Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman.
