SAT School Day
Windham - posted Sep, 20 2013
WINDHAM- High school seniors in Windham can now register for the district’s SAT® School Day, a free, in-school college entrance exam scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 16. SAT School Day helps states and districts foster a college-going culture and increases access to college, especially among first-generation college-bound students. The SAT can also be an important tool for assessing students’ mastery of standards in mathematics, reading and writing, and for evaluating a school’s or district’s education policies and programs to determine how well it is serving all of its students. Enabling students to take the SAT during the school day ensures that promising students who might otherwise face barriers to standard Saturday testing — such as part-time jobs or family responsibilities — do not miss out on a chance at the college-going process. By providing these students with the opportunity to take the exam free of charge, the district has also removed any financial challenges that might further reduce students’ chances of participating. Students can register for SAT School Day online at http://sat.collegeboard.org/schoolday/fall through Wednesday, Oct. 2. Registering is easy. Students need only an email account, a free College Board online account and an SAT School Day student voucher, available from their school counselors.
