MANCHESTER - Manchester Historical Society Genealogy meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The Genealogy Group will be presenting Ruth Shapleigh-Brown, founder and executive director of the Connecticut Gravestone Network. Her talk, Gravestones 101 in Hartford County, is about finding family gravestones in Hartford County. The Genealogy Group meets at 10 a.m. at the Manchester History Center, 175 Pine St., on the second Tuesday of the month. The group consists of members of the Manchester Historical Society with an interest in researching our own family history. Those who are looking for other research projects to do may speak with the group’s chairperson, Dennis Gleeson, who has a list of Manchester families and properties that the Historical Society would like to have studied. Members of the Historical Society coordinate the group of both amateurs and experts with an interest in genealogical research. Non-members are welcome for a $3 fee.
