Arts and crafts exhibit and sale

CANTERBURY- FACES at FAHS (Fine Art & Craft Exhibit & Sale at the Finnish American Heritage Society) will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Finnish Hall, 76 North Canterbury Road (Route 169), Canterbury. Artisans will be displaying and selling works in assemblage, clay, collage, drawing, fiber arts, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, and wood in both Indoor and Outdoor spaces. In addition, demonstrations in skilled crafts such as lamp work beads, spinning, weaving, and wood carving will be held. Students from the Helen Baldwin Middle School in Canterbury will be displaying their art and a gratis space for children (of all ages), Found Object Art: Make It & Take It, will provide an opportunity to create an original work of art with a variety of found objects. This is the 3rd annual FACES at FAHS and Open House at the Finnish Hall. The Heritage Museum and Library will be open to visitors. The event is part of The Last Green Valley’s Walktober. Refreshments including Finnish pulla bread, salmon chowder, other luncheon items, and beverages will be available. The Canterbury Cones truck and Jean & Milo’s Kettle Corn will also be on site. Music will be provided by Mac Johnston (mandolin) and Mike Kotowski (accordion). Admission is free and the site is handicapped accessible.
