Postcard art

COLCHESTER- Jack Jackter Intermediate School art students are displaying their postcards from “Art Around the School”. Each postcard has two messages: a written message communicating a fact about JJIS, a dream or advice for the school year and an abstract painting designed to communicate that theme visually. For instance, 5th grader Quinn Clark wrote, "At JJIS we follow the R.O.C.K.S. (Respect, Opportunity, Cooperation, Kindness and Safety) rules," and painted a curving, golden path dotted with colorful "stones" to visually communicate his message. Students even assisted in selecting and displaying the art in an attractive, interactive way. The materials used were watercolor, marker, and crayon, and for inspiration the students viewed abstract art by Georgia O'Keeffe and Pablo Picasso. "Messages" will remain on display through October 11. Come take a look!
