TOLLAND - On Oct. 4, students from Tolland High School will be hosting the town's first Culture Fair at Birch Grove Primary School. The event is open to the public from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone is invited, especially families and with children in grades kindergarten through seven from the community. There will be international foods, games, performances, crafts, music and more. Performances include Irish step dancing, an African drum team and a Hispanic dance performance and lesson. The fair will spread cultural awareness and expose children to the world’s diversity, both of which are thing that children may not be directly taught in their normal school day. The Fair will also be a fun experience for children and families to "travel around the world” in just one day. Upon you arrive, children will receive a Fair Passport that they get to have stamped at each country's booth and a suitcase to collect souvenirs in. All food and activities are free, however there will be a $3 admission fee per person or $10 per family of four or more. Profits will be donated to UNICEF.
