Autism Spectrum – Unplugged
Region - posted Oct, 02 2013
REGION - FOCUS Center for Autism will present Autism Spectrum – Unplugged panel on Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Willington Library, 74 Ruby Road, Willington. The FOCUS panel consists of current FOCUS students, alumni and staff, all of whom are on the autism spectrum. Lead by Executive Director Donna Swanson, the panel is an open and honest discussion about what life with autism is really like. Panel members clearly describe their school experiences, difficulty with relationships, and feelings of isolation and loneliness. They relay to educational and service providers approaches and techniques that worked for them and ones that did not. The panel provides awareness and hope to thousands of children and families, and raises the public consciousness concerning this growing disorder. The panel is free to attend; and no reservation is required. For more information, please contact Yvonne Gardner at 860-693-8809. FOCUS Center for Autism is a grassroots, community based nonprofit whose mission is helping children and young adults with autism spectrum disorders achieve their full potential.
