Plainfield - posted Oct, 04 2013

PLAINFIELD- The Plainfield Historical Society has issued a special invitation to the public to join society members for the official Open House of the town’s new History Room, Saturday, Oct.12, from 10 a.m. to noon. The History Room is located in the recreation-seniors complex at 482 Norwich Road and is operated by the Plainfield Historical Society, the officially designated Plainfield Town Historian. Current History Room hours are Fridays 2-4 p.m. and by appointment. The site provides a convenient meeting place for those who seek information about the town’s history and for donating photograph and ephemera to the historical society’s collection. Items from that collection are currently on display with the focus on Plainfield’s Schools, including the famous Plainfield Academy. A file of public high school yearbooks (Hermiads) is available for browsing. For information, call President Ruth Bergeron, 860-564-8561.
