Enfield - posted Oct, 14 2013
ENFIELD - The town of Enfield will launch a free tax preparation program to assist low to moderate income families. Free tax preparation will be available from Jan. 25 to April 15, 2014. The program will be located at the Village Center of Thompsonville, 100 High St., Enfield. It will be open every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The VITA program focuses on connecting qualified families with the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit). The EITC is a federal tax credit for working families who have adjusted gross income under $52,000. The Earned Income Tax Credit is one of the Federal Government’s largest and most effective anti-poverty programs. The VITA site aims to provide free tax preparation, and general financial services information. VITA sites function through a coalition between town government, the IRS, community volunteers, and local businesses. This coalition makes it possible for residents with annual income of less than $52,000 to receive free tax preparation at the VITA site in Enfield, Connecticut. Call 860-253-6395 to schedule an appointment at the Enfield VITA tax preparation site.
